Subject: Queensryche

Written By: Hairspray on 4/28/2001 at 1:13 p.m.

It is my understanding that most people think of Queensryche's "Operation Mindcrime" as the best of their 80's albums. I, myself, liked "Rage for Order" much more. Am I the only one of this opinion?

My favorite is their "Queensryche" E.P. Their very first album with 4 songs (5 on the re-release". It had "The Lady Wore Black", and "Queen Of The Reiche" on it. Matter of fact, that's really their only ablum I like.

IMO, "Operation Mindcrime" is THE BEST concept album ever recorded, and certainly the best effort in Queensryche's discography. There isn't a bad track on it, and the story that it tells is worthy of big screen treatment.

As for "Rage for Order", I wasn't too crazy about it. Walk in the Shadows, The Whisper, Gonna Get Close to You, and I Will Remember are the best tracks.

My second favorite Queensryche album is "Empire",
although Silent Lucidity got worn out on the radio. It wasn't the best song anyway, Another Rainy Night (Without You) was. "Warning" is another very good CD, which has one of their best songs on it, Take Hold of the Flame.

See! My point exactly.

I think I like "Rage for Order" so much more because it wasn't the most popular. We all know how it is when a song becomes too popular and then gets seriously overplayed. Case in point -
Empire (1990's). I got pretty sick of Mindcrime and Empire, especially during their early/mid 90's tour when they re-did the whole Mindcrime thing (though it was better the second time around) and Empire. I blame the radio stations!!!
I have most of their music up to "Hear in the Now Frontier".

Why do radio stations overplay songs to that rediculous degree? Well, that's entirely another subject...

That is the one I like the most, and that is a GREAT song.

Not sure why, but that is the only album I ever bought of Queensryche. I did like there other stuff that got radio play, but never picked up any other album.

TX, you are missing out on some great music. Next time you're at your favorite online music store (or brick and mortar) pick up a couple of their CDs. I would suggest "Mindcrime" and "Empire", but anything would be okay.
