Subject: 80's Concert Revivals

Written By: Elaine on 4/23/2001 at 1:59 p.m.

I just saw Bon Jovi Friday Night at Anaheim - and he rocked! Looked great, sounded great, however, some poor song choices (five NOT his own - too many and - no Runaway!!!!). BUT overall a great 80's revisit. Have you been to any 80's artist shows in the past few years that were a disappointment? I understand Pat Benatar does very few '80s songs at her shows now.

Actually I went to see Boy George the last time he made the rounds, and it really rocked! Now I hear Depeche Mode (my very favorite!) is going to be in town this summer, guess who's going to go!

Recently seen Huey Lewis and the News at the HOB -they didn't play any of '80's songs and did not play my only favorite song - Heart and Soul.

Also recently seen the Mission UK, Sisters of Mercy and The Furs - and they were more than willing to play their old tunes and they sounded great. Same for Rick Springfield (I saw him last year) - a great show.

The most awesome show was of course Duran Duran - even though they greatly influence music and video in the 1980's ....I don't like to categorize them as an '80's band but since they have been touring through the 90's and 2000-2001, but by far the most awesome shows - I have been fortunate enough to see Duran Duran six times over the last two years.
