Subject: What do you miss the most
Okay here's one for everybody. It's probably been done before, but here goes.
What one single thing from the 80's do you miss the most? It can be anything that has gone or faded in popularity since then. I guess I'll go first. I might get a lot of flak on this one, but I'd have to pick Ronald Reagan.
Everyone...........?

The music baby! 80's music ruled! Now all we have is depressing sludge . I swear every time I turn on the radio it's either this new "rock" : "I hate you cause you're ugly on the inside, so kill me in the head cause I smell like poo" or hip-hop with their "Go on and sleep around with everybody tonight cause you're a foine thang and your woman will never know".
Oh yeah, the movies too! What happened to the quality films like Karate Kid, Back to the Future, The Princess Bride, and of course, Willow!

I know this is going to sound corny but I think most of all I miss the innocence.
Yes, I was a kid in the 80's, and a kid's view of the world is a lot different from an adult's, but I think for the most part the 80's were a lot more innocent than now - especially for kids.
Popular media nowadays is all about sex and violence. I mean, the biggest teen idol girls have is Buffy the Vampire Slayer, who seems to sleep with a new person every week... boy, i wonder why teen pregnancy is so high?!
80's teen movies and shows were a lot subtler and less expicit. Anyone else notice the absence of any family shows on the major networks nowadays? What happened to good old family values shows like Growing Pains and Family Ties? Now all the shows are about single beautiful people trying to get some! I haven't seen too many shows this decade that have tried to pass a good message to the next generation...

Luke, I understand what you're saying, but with all due respect, that is our job as parents. I'm very selective in what my kids watch... actually, my daughter isn't old enough yet to watch TV (not quite 3 months yet), but my son will be 6 in November and he is old enough. I can only imagine this will get harder as they get older...
