Subject: Summer of '85 Movie Themes
Does everyone remember what an oddly jam-packed year 1985 was, especially during the summer, for almost every movie to have a rockin' hit theme song? I'm sure I'll forget some, but here's a list:
"The Power Of Love" from Back To The Future
Huey Lewis & The News
"St.Elmo's Fire (Man In Motion)"
by John Parr
"Weird Science" by Oingo Boingo
"(The Goonies R) Good Enough"
by Cyndi Lauper
"Fright Night" by Peter Wolf
"Don't You Forget About Me" from The Breakfast Club - by Simple Minds
"A View To A Kill" by Duran Duran
"Invincible" from The Legend Of Billie Jean
by Pat Benatar
"We Don't Need Another Hero" from Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome - by Tina Turner
"Get Into The Groove" from Desperately Seeking Susan - by Madonna
"Crazy For You" from Vision Quest - by Madonna
"To Live And Die In L.A." by Wang Chung
"Separate Lives" from White Nights
Phil Collins and Marilyn Martin
"Say You Say Me" from White Nights
Lionel Richie
Those are just some of the bigger hits from the bigger movies. There were a lot that got some MTV/radio play, but didn't do as well:
"The Music Of Goodbye" from Out Of Africa
Melissa Manchester and Al Jarreau
"Closest Thing To Perfect" from Perfect by Jermaine Jackson
"Burning Heart" from Rocky IV - by Survivor
"Peace In Our Life" from Rambo: First Blood Part II - by Frank Stallone
"When The Going Gets Tough" from Jewel Of The Nile - by Billy Ocean
"Stand In The Fire" from Youngbloods
Mickey Thomas
"Bit By Bit" from Fletch - by Stephanie Mills
"Remo's Theme (What If?)" from Remo Williams
by Tommy Shaw
There were great theme songs that never even got radio play, often by unknowns:
"No Secrets" from Secret Admirer
by Van Stephenson
"Out On The Edge" from The Heavenly Kid
by Jon Fiore
"Better Off Dead (One Way Love)" from Better Off Dead - by E.G. Daily
So many more... Did I forget anything I should be shot for?

I always liked E.G. Daily's mini-hit in 1987 from the Summer School soundtrack "Mind Over Matter." That's a great song...
