The day the Challenger exploded, I was at home. There had been a snow storm the night before (I lived in Northern Kentucky at the time)and school had been cancelled. It was bone chillingly cold outside(it was February), and I remember I had the TV on in the background. I had watched so many space shuttle launches by that point, I thought it was routine and boring. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw the explosion, and I ran and turned the TV up. I couldn't believe it, and I rang up my best friend, and we just sat there on the phone for hours, just watching the coverage in relative silence.

I was in school the day Reagan was shot, third grade I think. I remember my teacher, Mrs. Logan, turned on the television in the class room and we watched the live coverage, not quite understanding what was going on.

I was a junior in high school when the Berlin Wall fell, and I remember being excited because I was going to Europe that following summer, and would be visiting Germany.

I remember vividly standing in a LONG line at the Children's Palace toy store in Louisville for hours with my mom, trying to find a Cabbage Patch Kid to buy my sister... My sister didn't get a Cabbage Patch until the following Christmas...

Michael Jackson was ultra-cool when I was in Jr. High, and I fell in love with Madonna the first time I ever saw her: January, 1984, on American Bandstand with Dick Clark. She sang "Holiday", and she wore the glad rags in her hair, and the bangles and lace. I knew immediately she was going to be a superstar, and I was right...

Thanks Shaunna, for helping me to relive some amazing memories...

Challenger exploded:
I was in ninth grade algebra. I am from Brigham City Utah, the town that most of the people who worked for Thiokol lived in. Thiokol is the place that made the rocket boosters and O rings that caused the explosion. It was horrible. Our principal was even crying when he told us. The next launch was when I was a senior. Our town was never the same.

Ronald Reagan was shot:
I was in fifth grade, watching on tv. Not Cool.

Pepsi was the choice of a new generation?
You mean thats changed? It's still my choice.

: The Challenger exploded?

I was in my third grade classroom watching it. All the kids were so excited, including me. But our excitement was abruptly taken away when it exploded. I was in total shock.

: Ronald Regan was shot?

I don't remember this at all.

: The Berlin Wall fell?

I was at home watching it on CNN. It was the most symbolic thing I ever saw on tv.

: Cabbage Patch Kids were the craze?

I was 6 years old when the craze hit. And like most kids I knew back then, I wanted one sooooo bad. I thought they were the cutest thing I ever saw. I finally got one in 1984. His name is Will Vince. I still have that CPK to this day.

: Michael Jackson was still cool?

Michael Jackson was my favorite singer back then. I had a poster of him in my room. I listened to Thriller so much I almost wore out the vinyl. LOL

: Madonna was every girl's idol?

I really dug her in 1985. I knew some older girls who dressed like her but it just didn't look right.

I was in my dorm watching on TV when the Challenger exploded. I was 20 and a junior in college and had ditched a class specifically to watch the launch. One of those things I will never forget.

As for Reagan, I was still in high school, I think 11th grade. I do remember that I was in my world history class (7th period) when our teacher told us about the president being shot. I couldn't believe it. I remember being anxious to get home so I could turn on the TV and see what was happening. That is also something that will always be in my memory.

Do you remember where you were when John Lennon was killed? I was watching MNF and Howard Cosell announced it.

When ths shuttle exploded, I was at school. I was in the 9th grade. Some kids at the lockers had said it, but we told them "Yeah, right"--but then we went to our swimming class and the coach came out and told us that the shuttle really had exploded. It was quite a shock.

When Reagan was shot, I was at home and saw it on the TV. My dad was pretty freaked out, I was surprised--but they kept showing it over and over and over--as I recall, when it first happened, they weren't sure if the president had been hit, they just kept showing Brady on the ground--it was kind of surreal. The neighbor kid just kept standing in the way of the TV, and my dad kept yelling at him to "MOVE! MOVE!" Dunno why, since it was always the same footage.

The Cabbage Patch kid craze never phased me--I was older, plus I thought those dolls were UG--LY!! But then my aunt went and bought them for my sister and I, and it was kind of neat, just because I'd never actually SEEN one. But he had this really dumb sounding name--"Cyril Bingham" Man Xavier Roberts had some names up his sleeve!! LOL!!

Michael Jackson was just cool. I loved watching him dance. My mom liked to watch that too, although she thought he was "really wierd with that monkey and everything". I, of course, thought he was soooo cute--I SWORE my heart beat faster when the Billie Jean video was on. LOL!! I still remember the day his hair caught fire during the Pepsi commercial...

Madonna was never my idol, but I thought she was kinda cool, kind of racy and "out there" (What a joke compared to today's standards!! LOL!) I remember saying I wanted a Boy Toy belt too, not really understanding what that meant. Boy once I got older and understood, it's no wonder my mom went totally ballistic when I asked for one!!!
