I don't know if I'm going to be much of a help but I'll try. "Take On Me" seems to be about a guy that's very shy who's trying to work up the courage to ask out a particular girl. He seems to be asking for a chance but probably feels that if he doesn't do it today, he'll never be able to. However, if you go by the video for the song it seems to be about a comic book character that is trying to break through the barrier to the real world so he can be with the girl he loves. As far as "Back On The Chain Gang" goes, I think that song is about a woman who feels that her boyfriend or husband was wrongly jailed. Chrissy Hynde sings in the song, "The powers that be that force us to live like we do, bring me to my knees when I see what they've done to you." Then she says, "...They'll fall to ruin one day for making us part." These are just my opinions, I don't know if they're a good analysis for those two songs. Good luck with your project!!
