does anyone out there remeber if headphones were around in 1980. Does anyone remember a specific year that they first came out? By the way i dont mean "Walkmans". It can just be headphones. Thanks

Headphones for home stereo use have been around since the '60's, way before stereo systems were in use. They were just mono. Headphones have been used in recording studios way before that, but don't know exact dates.

Headphones were around before 1980. I remember my mom buying me a set when I was in Jr. High, around 1978. They were big and bulky, but they were headphones. I don't know a specific year that they were first mass marketed though, sorry.
