Subject: CARE

Written By: Reno on 3/1/2001 at 7:54 a.m.

There is this group in the 80's known as The CARE, not the CURE, CARE. Its an Ian Broudie band which I can not get any information of. I Think the CARE became WILD SWANS, then Lightning Seeds. Any information leading to the band called the CARE would be helpful. They have three 12" singles. Someone respond as to which record company in produced there singles. Thank you for the opportunity.

Here is what I found:

The British synth-pop duo Care comprised onetime Big in Japan member Ian Broudie and vocalist Paul Simpson, formerly of the Teardrop Explodes. Formed in 1982, Care issued only a handful of singles during their brief lifetime, including the U.K. Top 50 hit "Flaming Sword"; after the group's demise, Broudie successfully turned to production, later fronting the Lightning Seeds, while Simpson resurfaced in the Wild Swans.

Look for the album Diamonds and Emeralds (it is a retrospective of Care's brief career), it includes "Flaming Sword," their debut single "My Boyish Days," as well as "Cymophane" and "An Evening in the Ray." It is on the Camden lable.
