I didn't really give it much thought last year, but the 80's are definitely returning.

In Portland, a new all 80's radio station started (well they play some songs from 1990, but thats still considered 80's anyway), and some of the clothing styles are coming back.

I was reading that the Go Go's were performing again. They did this during the 90's, but I heard chips from a concert last summer. I also read that the Bangles were reuniting, and just a few days ago I found songs on napster from a concert they did in october of 2000. Both bands played all the classics... our lips are sealed, vacation, we got the beat, manic monday, walk like an egyptian, in your room, etc...

I remember the 70's colors returning in the 90's (green and brown paint jobs) that you just didn't see in the 80's, so I'm wondering what 80's colors we are going to have back. Neon?? (ok so that's not a color, but still...)

I'm also noticing some out of print movies and songs are being reissued. Indiana Jones and Back To The Future have been gone for years, and from what I've been reading, both are scheduled to have a fourth installment in the next few years.

Another thing that I've noticed seems to be coming back, although this could just be in the area I live in... I remember in the late 80's up until the early 90's, you saw lowriders all over the place. Mostly mini trucks... while lowriders aren't technically 80's (my dad says they were around in the 60's), they mostly died off around here in the 90's, but I'm seeing more of them pop up all the time.

And even more interesting than that, most of the lowriders I'm seeing coming back are not the new S-10, Tacoma, or whatever, they are building up old Mazda, Nissans, or whatever.

Now I'm wondering if we are going to see some other long gone things return: arcades (can anyone say pac-man, centipede, dig dug, joust, or galaxians?), neon colors, more long gone 80's bands, or the 80's TV shows?

Ok, yeah I totally agree with you. A few key things I have noted are: During the mid to late 90s we had a repeat of just about every decade accept for the 80s. We relived pretty much the 20s-the 70s in one way or another. So now is the time for an 80s revival. I also believe that the look of the 80s, ie: fashion & a few automobiles produced are very futuristic looking. A lot of futuristic films seen in the past decade or two use a lot of 80s type colors and styles in thier costuming as well as alot of the cars remind me somehwhat of the delorion(sp?). I truly believe the 80s are on their way back. It is already becoming apparent in the media. tv commercials, radio etc. They're coming back!!!

Actually you already have some of this. Thanks to the resurgence of Frogger a couple years back, we've had follow ups of Pacman, Centipede, Galaxian, and several other games (though I've yet to see Dig Dug or Joust). In addition, a new Knight Rider movie (scheduled for theatre release I believe) is suppose to be coming up, starring Hassleholf.

If u r ever in los angeles u need to go to club clockwork orange on hollywood blvd.at the world building or ruby room there all the same club awsome music all night 80s till u drop 10:00 pm to 2:45 am its awsome see u there.....
