Subject: 80's costumes (besides the ones listed)
OK, I am a college student, and I am trying to get one of the school's organizations to have an 80's night (They did it last year, and it was GREAT!). I'm pretty sure that it will go through, but my thing is this: none of my friends are quite as 80's-crazed as I am, and if they even go, they will want my advice on dressing the part. I have a few things in mind, but I don't want to give them all the same ideas, and besides, this would be on a budget, so what can I tell them all? Please help me! (I am short on ideas, b/c I probably can't use specific people because no one knows who they are, and I really need hairstyling tips, especially for guys.) Thanx!

Okay here you go. When I was a teenager in the 80s, I was obsessed with Miami Vice. Here's what you need for a complete Miami Vice outfit:
1. White unconstructed blazer w/ shoulder pads
2. T-shirt, either pink, peach or light blue
3. white baggy pants
4. white espadrilles (These may be a little hard to find)
and remember, NO SOCKS!
Or you could go for the "preppy look"
1. pink or yellow button down long sleeve oxford shirt by Ralph Lauren
2. beige slacks
3. brown native woven belt
4. brown docksides boat shoes or penny loafers with penny inside
5. brown or red argyle socks, or no socks at all
6. it's also optional to wear a skinny tie, and when I say skinny, I mean no wider than 1.5 inches across.
As for the hair, if the guys are really dedicated, they could go get "mullets", which were hairstyles that were short & spiky in the front & sides, but quite long in the back. Remember to apply lots of gel or mousse.
