Subject: What makes a site look good? Examples??
I got flamed into oblivion by the children over on go.com today, because I disagreed with the rating my misheard lyrics site (amiright.com) was only getting a 2 star rating... and the basic complaint was it isn't "visually appealing" not that anyone said that (comments ranged from 'it sucks' to 'unusable')
personally, I always thought it wasn't that bad.. but I'm willing to give it an overhaul (this site, in case you're wondering, is next next on the list)
so.. give me some links to websites you think look good.. I like stuff like yahoo and amazon, which I guess means I have no idea what cool is.. I just like finding stuff..
and anyone who suggests flash is gonna get a boot to the head...

I've seen more BAD sites than good. A good site takes a LONG time to develop.
The majority of geocities, angelfire, and tripod sites that I've seen suck, as most of the 80's competition sites. They get updated MAYBE once a year and it looks like some 15 year old who had a free weekday night and threw it together.
This site is just fine the way it is. Sounds to me like the idiots who flamed you were teenagers who just didn't have a clue.
Download times are the biggest consideration. I'm on cable, and most of my friends are, but most of my family still uses that lightning, warp speed, ultra fast 56K.
Unless you really want to revamp your site, I would just leave it alone.
Maybe you could run a poll on this question?
