Subject: Top 40 countdown

Written By: aaron on 1/14/2001 at 5:05 p.m.

James Martin mentioned that Casey Kasem is bringing back the top 40 countdown.

Any information on this? I would like to hear it again after almost 10 years.

James, or anybody else, any help on this?

Thanks.

Yes, it's true. It's actually a rebroadcast of the Top 40 songs of a certain week in a certain year. Yes, it's includes the famous "long distance dedicaton". I didn't catch it all, but I heard some of the songs from that week in 1986. Like "Sex Like A Weapon" by Pat Benatar, "The Sweest Taboo" by Sade, & "Face The Face" by Pete Townsend (a lost 80's song you don't hear on the radio anymore). I don't what next week's show is on what week or year they'll do, but IMO, I hope they'll do 1980,81,82,83 the early stuff. I think we should support this program (you'll have to find it on an all 80's station) I got lucky. The station I listened to went to an all 80's station and that's when I heard Casey's coming to "Countdown". Is this isn't proof that the 80's are back, I don't what is. Agree?
