Subject: "Do They Know It's Christmas Time?" By Band-Aid

I thought this was just a wonderful song performed by caring 80's artists on the subject of African hunger. I know some of the artists who were part of the song but does anyone know who started/created the project?

The project was the brain-child of Bob Geldof (I think it's Sir bob geldof now). He co-wrote the song with Midge Ure (used to be in a band called ultravox). Bob was also responsible for organising Live Aid in 1985, the biggest concert of a all time where all the bands worth their salt at the time performed live in the U.S. and U.k. at the same time and was telecast live all over the world. The proceeds again were in aid of Ethiopian famine victims...Margeret Thatcher however played spoilsport and wanted to tax the event...don't remember what happened in the end.
