Thanks for the response to my earlier message.
I have the song on tape, it is a male vocal and is definately a rock number. Originally I thought that it was Mike and the Mechanics but can find no such song in their bibliography.
The first verse in full goes as follows
He's got a brain, but he dont know how to use it
Its such a shame everything he sees he abuses
The constabulary came again and again
They tried to explain but they said it was in vain
His mama had the other two, His papa had other thing to do
He tried as hard as he could but they never understood
The chorus goes as follows
I know kids are gonna do what they wanna do
But a little love will make it alright
All he needs is love and understanding

After reading the lyrics you just posted from the chorus, my initial reaction was that it was probably Corey Hart's moderate hit from the Spring of '90, "A Little Love". The song actually meets most of your criteria: Uptempo rocker w/ male vocals, and the main line in the chorus is also "A little love will make it alright". Only the date was off (not from the early to mid '80s). But I just went back and listened to Hart's song all the way through, and unfortunately, the song's opening lyrics don't match the ones you give...
If it's not the Corey Hart song (and at this point, I doubt it), then I'm afraid I'm stumped on this one! Based on the chorus, I'm willing to wager the song is titled either "A Little Love" or "Love Will Make it Alright". However, except for Hart, no other male group/artist has ever cracked either the pop or AOR charts here in the U.S. w/ a song by either title. (In the Summer of '84, Juice Newton also scored a moderate hit on the pop chart titled "A Little Love", but I think we can rule her out, LOL!) So the song you have on tape is most likely an obscure album cut, or a minor regional hit, at best (assuming you got it off the radio here in the States). Good luck in your search...
