Does anyone remember the song "...I'm a metal head." It was pretty silly about customizing vans, and leather wrist straps. I Thought it was by Kaatu, but i cant find it. Anyone know if I'm on the right track?

Sounds like you could be thinking of Blotto's 1982 novelty classic, "(I'm Turning into a Heavy) Metal Head". While not a "hit" per se here in the U.S. (it failed to make the pop charts), it was off the band's 1982 album, "Combo Akimbo". Unfortunately, the album is long out-of-print, and has never been re-issued on CD here in the U.S. I have the cassette myself...
"Metal Head" was Blotto's best-known song after their other early '80s novelty classic (which I'm sure some folks here may remember), "I Wanna Be a Lifeguard", the video of which used to get a fair amount of airplay on MTV back in the video channel's heyday...
