A sad time, indeed. Absolutely loved "Stay the Night", and bought his 1986 solo album, "The Lace", back when it first came out! Never got to see The Cars live. I just checked out cnn.com and they say he died of pancreatic cancer. He had just reuited with his Cars bandmates for a concert that Rhino Records plans to release sometime in November with the proceeds going to the National Pancreatic Foundation.
And once again this completes another celebrity triangle of death. First was Richard Mulligan of "Empty Nest" and "Soap". Then was Pierre Trudeau, former prime minister of Canada. Now Benjamin Orr of The Cars.

I hadn't heard about Richard Mulligan either. Hate to hear about Ben Orr... I can remember buying Touch & Go when I was about 16 or so and taking it to a pool party a few days later. Somehow my cassette ended up at the bottom of the pool... just one of those things I remember when I hear the Cars on the radio.
