Subject: Please Help Me Find This Song
Back in 1986 a band did a remake of the song "Ain't Nothin' but a House Party" and I was fortunate enough to tape part of it. It is a good version of the song, but I don't know the name of the group that sang it. I have been able to find several groups that sang it in the 70's, but not the group that sang it in 1986. I would appreciate any help in tracking this song down. Alternate names for this song could be "Ain't Nothin' but a Party" and "House Party."
Thank you for your help!

Al, I found a song title "Ain't Nothing But A House Party" by Phil Fearon. Came out in 1986 and charted in '86-87 in the UK. Produced by Stock/Aitken/Waterman (who produced/mixed dance hits for Dead Or Alive, Bananarama, ABC, etc.) SAW's "sound" is pretty much like the song I remember. I haven't been able to find lyrics or an audio sample so I can't confirm it. Anyway, other info - he was a part of a band called Galaxy and their songs were in the soul/disco vein. So this may be it. Hope this helps.

Thanks Midas! We found it. It took a lot of searching, and I finally got to hear part of it - this is definately the right song. "Ain't Nothin' but a House Party" by Phil Fearon. Great song. I can only find it as a single on 12" vinyl, so I don't know if it was ever included on a CD.
Have you heard the song "Hey Ton'i" by Kirby Coleman that came out around 1989? It was a one hit wonder, but a great song also. I think you'd like it too.

Glad I could be of help to you (and myself!)
I actually have the 12" single of "Hey Ton'i" on Next Plateau Records. One of those ones I hardly play now but still a great song.

That's cool. Too bad "Hey Ton'i" never came out on CD. Maybe one of these days I'll look into buying a record player.
It's been good talking with you,
