Subject: animated music video
there were many animated music videos back in the 80s:A-Ha, Dire Straits, etc. I'm looking for the name of the band (preferably the song) that had an animated music video in the style of a comic book: complete with word balloons, panels, comic book colors, and done in a way that looked like Dick Tracy (or like a Roy Lichtenstein painting) - The singer sounded like someone from The English Beat/General Public or Talk Talk and the video did not show anyone from the band - it was a complete animated video with a short storyline about good guy vs bad guy and good guy getting the girl in the end (there is a final fight-scene where the good guy punches the bad guy to the moon and the girl says in a word balloon: "oh, my hero")....anyone have clues as to what the name of the band or song is? I did not dream this up....

It's been about 15 years since I saw the video, so my memory's a bit fuzzy, but I thought Alan Parsons and Eric Woolfson (the 2 main guys in Alan Parsons Project) made a brief cameo in the end as cartoon characters singing the song and playing instruments. If anyone remembers, post a response.
That was a cute video, I'd like to see it again...

I think you are thinking of "Eye In The Sky" by Alan Parsons Project.
It has been a long time, but I think it was Alan Parsons Project. Maybe not "Eye In The Sky", but that is what comes to mind.

I really don't think it was Eye In The Sky. I can picture the video, but cannot remember the song, I believe the name of the song was a woman's name.....it's on the tip of my tongue!!

Boy was I wrong! It was Alan Parsons Project, but the song is "Don't Answer Me" from their 1984 album Ammonia Avenue. Where the heck I got a woman's name out of that I'll never know! LOL

I would have had to do a lot of digging to come up with "Don't Answer Me" (I listened to it and I believe you are correct). I was thinking "Eye In The Sky" was to early (82) to be the right song. Their 1984 album Ammonia Avenue does sound a lot closer to the time I was thinking. It's just "Eye In The Sky" is the only Alan Parsons Project song I could remember.

You gotta be kidding me, TX - sheesh, that's almost as bad as saying Rick Springfield's only hit was "Jessie's Girl"! Tsk tsk, you've shown a lot more musical knowledge than that around here in the past! Yeah, "EITS" was indeed the APP's biggest hit, but come on! After all, they did score *17* chart hits from 1976-86, and had several other huge top 20 hits, including "Games People Play", "Time", and yes, "Don't Answer Me". I command you to run out to your nearest record store this instant and buy their two separate "Best of..." collections (the first is from 1983; "Volume 2" came out in '87)! I think you'll find it to be an excellent trip down memory lane - you won't be disappointed!

I didn't mean it to sound like I was saying it was their only hit, it was just the only one I could think of off the top of my head (brain fart I guess).
This is a group that doesn't get a lot of play on any retro shows I listen to (another forgotten band). Not much of an excuse, but it's all I got.
"Games People Play" and "Time" are also great songs.
