Subject: Hey! who didn't like the 80's!!
I just wanted to say that I love this site and the "new wave" (no pun intended) of 80's bands resurfacing and touring smaller clubs - over the last few years I have seen some great bands from the 80's (Duran Duran, Mission UK,Jene Loves Jezebel,Hewy lewis,R. Springfield, Ho Jo, to name a few) and I have noticed that when I tell my co-workers that I am going to a 80's act show they respond "oh, I hate that 80's music".
So that got me thinking - (you can try this too) ask them what they were like in the 80's...I have found the people who hated the '80s never tried dying their hair, wearing a crazy outfit just because or used hair spray. I guess I would be miserable too!! hehehe

I beg to differ, my dear...
I hated the 80's, in general. And I tried all of the stuff you mentioned.
I found only a few groups that were good in the 80's, and most of them continued into the 90's, and some are still around. So I never liked the "typical" 80's music.
So what am I doing here, you ask? Well, letīs just say itīs nostalgia. :-)

I have to agree with Morpheus' comment about nostalgia. I've found that very few bands originating in the 80s had lasting power.
The few orginal bands I found, I found after the decade ended and they certainly weren't chart toppers. (Replacements, Lone Justice etc.)
That said, I still love the tacky music that reminds me of when I was fourteen and I do own ALL the Culture Club albums on CD.
