Subject: paul davis in the 80's

Written By: james martin on 7/25/2000 at 10:16 p.m.

i was wondering if anyone knows whatever happened to paul davis? we know he had hits in the 70's like,"i go crazy","sweet life",and "ride'em cowboy", but he had 5 hits in the 80's, "do right","cry just a little","cool night", "'65 love affair",and "love or let me be lonely".in 1985 he started writing country songs for marie osmond, dan seals, and tanya tucker among others. in the mid '90s', he returned to bang2 records a sequel to the original bang records, he was going to release a new album called "then and now" in 1999, but a few months later, the label quietly folded without anyone knowing it. in sept. of that year, razor and tie records,co-owned by sony music released "sweet life: his greatest hits singles instead. it contains 14 of his pop and country hits, but it doesn't include "it takes two to tango" from "the karate kid"(soundtrack out of print),and "if we can get through this night" from "about last night" i guess paul must have had bad memories of the 80's in some ways because they weren't hits period. please anybody find any info on paul. whether a new album, where he lives now, a upcoming episode of where are they now? behind the music anything because it's been 19 years since his last album, cool night. it's one my favorite albums of the 80's at least for me.since the return of a lot of artists from the 80's and the 70's releasing new albums like al jarreau, jeffery osborne, rick springfield, donna summer you get the picture. it's a shame that we'll probably never hear anything from him. maybe because he hates the music direction that it is today.i for one agree with him 100%.i don't like it either. please respond asap. i would like to see soft rock come back; but, it probably won't because the program directors don't either remember those songs or they don't have the guts to play them. that time period of soft rock of the early 80's was magicial and timeless.
