Subject: Duran Duran poll

I was chatting with some Duranies and I brought up the FACT that Simon LeBon was the heart and soul of Duran Duran and they COULDN'T BE Duran Duran without him. However, some other Duranies said that it was Nick Rhodes who was the heart and soul of the band.

So settle it, who is the most important member?

It has to be Simon Le Bon--his lyrics are what have always made Duran Duran. I'd have said it was Nick, too, except look at how well they're doing without John Taylor. If truth be told, John and Nick started the band, but really it's Simon who gives the music its art.

I would have to say they are both equally important to Duran Duran. Duran Duran would cease to be without one or the other.

I agree with Chucky. Although Simon is creative in his own way, and noone can sound like him, Nick is the more creative and artistic of them all. Of course, back in the 80's when I was COMPLETELY into them (Nick was my fav hehe), they were all considered the best!!!

I think they're both the core members..

Nick has written the music and the lyrics for the group, and Simon is basically just singing them.. and Nick was one of the co-founders with John Taylor, so I would have to say that it is Nick's band if anything..

of course it wouldn't SOUND like Duran Duran without Simon Lebon.. so I doubt they would continue the name if either of them decided to stop recording..
