Subject: 80s Newsletter, any thoughts on this subject?
as some of you may remember, if you've been visiting us for more than a year, I used to have a newsletter that I tried (albeit poorly) to get out once a month.. I've really been wanting to get it going again, but I want some feedback as to what people would want out of something like that
it's real easy for me to send out a message saying nothing more than "hey look what's new on the website" but I figure I won't be adding new features anytime soon (probably just enhancements to what I got), and I figure no one cares, THAT MUCH about wether I processed a big back log of submissions or not
here's a list of what I was doing at the time of the last newsletter:
1- Upcoming Eighties Events
2- What's New at ChuckyG's?
3- Favorite Misheard Lyrics This Month
4- Favorite Top Ten List
5- Review Of The Month
6- Trivia Quiz
I also have a link below to the 7 I did in the first half of last year
I can probably do all of these on a regular basis (especially now that I can focus less on writing software to run the site) though the review of the month was always fairly time consuming.. and I guess since the misheard lyrics are now a site unto themselves, I should re-consider keeping them a part of it..
probably the hardest thing for me, due to the time involved, was trying to come up with a list of things that were coming out in the near future.. I tried starting a page up on the site for people to submit stuff, but it's hard to keep it timely
the one drawback of course to any newsletter, is that it's very one-sided, no real interaction from the readers, which is why I'm trying to ask up front what people want to see in their mailbox on a regular basis.. I would actually like to try and do something weekly (or maybe bi-weekly)
of course, the newsletter was doing pretty decent when I wasn't doing it that often, 500+ subscribers.. but I would definately like to do something I know isn't going to just be more clutter in the old inbox

I wasn't hanging out here back then, but it sounds good to me. It seems that the older I get the more I want to recapture some small part of what I lived in the 80s, so this newsletter would certainly be looked upon with much greater kindness than would junk mail. Give her a go :)
