Subject: Who Played Saxaphone in This Video?
Hi there! I have been curious for some time now as to who the muscled guy is who plays the saxaphone lead in Tina Turner's video for "One Of The Living" (fr. the movie Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome). Does anybody know if he's a band member or just an actor playing the part? Any info is much appreciated.
Subject: Update! His name might be Gary Barnacle
Hi again!!
I was watching vh1 Divas '99 - Tina Turner opened with "Simply the Best" with the saxphone guy!! Anyway, my husband's friend was there and he said the guy's name is Gary Barnacle - I don't know if it's true..it's worth a shot.

Well, what I can remember is that he is a band member and actually plays the sax but unfortunately I cannot remember his name. I think he also appeared in the movie "The Lost Boys" - in the live band perfomance scene on the beach.

Thanks a lot, Shannon! It's nice to know this! Maybe I'll have to rent the Lost Boys (it's been years since I saw it) and look for him!

Here's another lead for you.
While I don't know the guy's name, I do know that he played saxophone for Alice Cooper when Cooper toured in either the late 80s or early 90s. If you check information regarding Alice Cooper tours from 1986 on, such as his touring band line-ups, you may find his name.
I remember reading a review in a local paper back then of an Alice Cooper show and the review mentioned the guy, calling him something like "Tina Turner's musclebound saxophonist."
Subject: I'll hazard a guess...
Is it Clarence Clemons? You know, he's Bruce Springsteen's sax player. He's the only muscle-bound sax player that I can think of.
Sincerely,
John Kilduff

No Clemons is black. This guy is white. He definitely was in The Lost Boys, and I did know his name once... long ago...

Hi!
I posted the answer up the list under "Karen M. - Saxophone player identified"
I didn't think anyone was still looking way down here.
