Subject: I am angry with the American Film Institute!
Did anybody here watch AFI's "100 Years, 100 Laughs" last night? I did, and I am totally disappointed with the list. Some good choices from the 80s did make it on the list ("Fast Times At Ridgemont High", "Beverly Hills Cop", "Airplane!", "Raising Arizona", "Ghostbusters" and "This Is Spinal Tap", to name 6 of the 22 80s flicks on there), but on the whole, many 80s movies were ignored. All of John Hughes' nominated movies failed to be acknowledged ("16 Candles" and "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" were both stiffed). "Working Girl" was ignored. So were "Pee-Wee's Big Adventure", "48 HRS", "Trading Places", "Repo Man", "Back To The Future", "The Naked Gun"...They weren't kind to the 90s either ("Pretty Woman", "Wayne's World" and "Clerks" all failed to make it on the list). The movies that have been loved by the children of the 80s (and the children of the 90s who prefer the 80s) have been ignored yet again. I am extremely angry.
Sincerely,
John Kilduff

Why would this surprize you??? Remember...Milli-Vannili(sp?) won a GRAMY. How the heck does that happen??? The people who make the lists dont know what talent is. Wanna try some thing fun?...Put a guitar in Britny Spears lap, and see if she knows what it is. Dont watch ANY award show on tv, if we ignore them...maybe they will go away.

actually, watch the Mtv Movie Awards.. of all the shows, their's is at least fun, is a reasonable two hours, has a small amount of awards, and they usually get it right (ie. American Beauty doesn't win everything) if they can award "Uncle F'cka" from South Park as best new movie song, they have some real class (Phil Collins wasn't even nominated, which is how it should be)
now if only Mtv's Music Awards were beter...

Man ChuckyG I just watched "American Beauty" the other day, it sucked IMO. Some funny parts but still a waste of time.
