Subject: 80's food

Written By: heather on 6/4/2000 at 12:04 a.m.

Hello children of the 80's. A friend and I were talking the other day, and want to have an "80's" party! Everyone has to dress up like they did in high school, or dress up as a singer or actress, what ever. Well, we were trying to think of some foods to serve, that might remind us of that time. Here are a couple that we came up with, if you have any more, I would greatly apprciate it. Please e-mail me if you have any other idea's, "new" coke, TAB, pop rocks, Pepsi free, Mc Ribs...

thats about it... anything else?

Heather

If I remember correctly, Pop Rocks actually came out in the late 70s... Anyway, if you want some good suggestions check out the foods of the 80s section on this site... I've listed a ton of stuff there.

pop rocks came out around 1977. i remember this perfectly 'cos a friend of mine had gone down south on vacation during easter break in 2nd grade. she brought some pop rocks back. they were out in the south, but not in ohio yet. but, they came out in ohio about a month later. i remember this well 'cos i was soooo jealous of her that month i couldn't get pop rocks 'cos she wouldn't share them with anyone. anyway, i was in 2nd grade in 76/77.

if you want some crappy 80's food--try steakums. anyone remember those? i thought they'd stopped making them, but i saw them the other day at the store. my mom used to buy those all the time 'cos they were cheap & we were poor. man, those things suck. bad.

Grin, I remember steakums :) and sizzleans.... what I remember a lot of though was when my mom decided to become a vegetarian (thus forcing my brother an I to be vegetarians (at least at home) as well). Mmmmmm, soy burgers.
