Subject: Def Leppard History
You have your history information on Def Leppard Partially incorrect. Pete Willis was only with the group until 1983. He did partial work on Pyromania, but didn't finish the album, that's when they got Phil Collins. The group has been together since 1979, not 1982. Steve Clark was with the group until he died in 1991 of a depressed brain stem due to mixing pain killers and alcohol. Please try to be a little more accurate in your history. It is my personal opinion that you made to many mistakes that could have been easily corrected with accurate, or more in depth research.

Dear Jess. Thank you for pointing out the errors in the research I contributed to the Def Leppard page, but may I draw your attention to the following points. First of all, the band history begins "The band formed.... in the late 70s." Secondly, the group members section lists the original line-up, followed by the line-up from 1982/3 - 89, then from 89 onwards. The only part which is actually wrong is the date of Steve Clark's death. But no one's perfect. :-)

BTW, although there is most likely an actual book on Def Leppard themselves, my information (apart from the bit about Steve Clark) was lifted from two excellent works on 70s and 80s metal: Encyclopedia Metallica (1982 ed.) by Malcolm Dohme and Brian Harrigan, and the International Encyclopedia of Hard Rock and Heavy Metal (3rd ed., 1991). Anyone who digs 80s metal of any kind should try to track down either of these books.
