The song you are thinking of is "True." It was sampled in a #1 hit for P.M. Dawn called "Set Adrift On Memory Bliss" in the 90's. Spandau Ballet's greatest hits is well worth buying if you like that one song. They had a good mix of pop molodies mixed with a little new wave.
