Who sang this and what was the benefit for (volunteers holding hands stretching across America?)

It was a benefit for hunger/homelessness in America. As for who sang, all I can remember is a little of the video and it was a bunch of Hollywood types who were not on We Are The World (can't remember any individuals though).

Tina Turner Kim Carnes (?) Bruce Springsteen Stephen Van Zandt (of E Street Band) Bono various rappers from NYC etc.
