Subject: Why? by Bronski Beat

In the wake of recent horrible events, myself and a network of friends have been calling up radio stations who have "Retro '80's nights" and requesting that they play "Why?" and "Smalltown Boy" by Bronski Beat, two songs which talk of tolerance and acceptance in the face of hatred. It just doesn't seem right that our country is allowing the government to take huge leaps backwards in human rights, after all the progress made in the '80's!!! Hatred and intolerance is not nor will ever be acceptable!!!

Amen to that,
Another good one to add to your list is Hideaway by erasure.
I am so outraged at the current events I am happy to know that I am not the only one,
Have a good day,
Dan

Erasure??? Grin, actually Hideaway is an awesome song, I just figured you were more likely to suggest DM's "People are People"

I know I know they are long time rivals. I just thought the message of Hideaway was more appropriate for the recent "gay bashing" incident. But it is only about 3 weeks before the DM show in Orlando...WOO HOO!

I think the "groups" making music today need to start making music that actually has a message, the way so many songs from the '80's did. Today's music has absolutely no meaning, no heart or compassion. We need to have another "Live Aid" project to bring the world together again, as it has become so fragmented. Music, too, has seperated people and races, not like in the '80's when we all listened to the same music, regardless of race, creed or religion. I would implore any pop group actually thriving in today's world to bring back message music, as today's youth is completely lost and without direction...
