The song was originally written by Prince for a band called The Family, I cannot remember the name of the LP but I have it!! ( in vynil, of course).
In 1989, Sinead O'Connor recorded her album "I don't want what I haven't got" and included the song.
In 1990's Prince's Nude Tour, he included the song and performed it during this tour.
You can also find the song in Prince's 3 CD (The Hits, The B-sides)

That would be "Nothing Compares 2 U" by Sinead O'Connor, a really pretty song written by the Artist Formerly Known as Prince. It's on Sinead's album, "I Do Not Want What I Do Not Have" or something like that...I forget...it's an '89 release, for sure.
