Subject: QUESTIONS...stupid poll and such...

Written By: Cathy on 8/5/1998 at 9:48 p.m.

who were your 80's idols? Mine were Cyndi Lauper, Debbie Gibson and Deborah Harry.

Also...who whould win in a fight? Deborah Harry or Pat Benatar? (I got that thought after seeing a Blondie/Benatar back to back CD)

And What do you think is the best 80's Compulation Cds?

OK...I'm probaly bothering you all with these posts....I'm sorry...

: who were your 80's idols? Mine were Cyndi Lauper, Debbie Gibson and Deborah Harry.

me (females): Melissa Etheridge (she recorded in the '80s!), Suzanne Vega, Tracy Chapman, and of course Annie Lennox and Alison Moyet. Um...as for males...Duran Duran as a whole, any cross-dresser, Donald Fagen, U2 as a whole, and any group strong enough to not quit once the '90s rolled around.

: Also...who whould win in a fight? Deborah Harry or Pat Benatar? (I got that thought after seeing a Blondie/Benatar back to back CD)

Probably Pat Benatar...even though she was almost anorexic, she could probably have beat Debbie's butt. Um...strange...one of my online friends has a dad who was one of Debbie's old classmates. Small world, ain't it?

: And What do you think is the best 80's Compulation Cds?

Probably the "Just Can't Get Enough" series from Rhino Records...as well as "Classic MTV Class of '83", a one-time-only available deal also from Rhino only available through VH-1.

They're no bother! In fact, I had fun answering those questions! :)

Lots of love,

Diane

Pat Benatar would kick some Blondie butt, but only because Debbie Harry seemed strung out most of the time. Debbie Gibson would beat BOTH of them. (It's the quiet timid ones you have to watch out for.)

The best 80's compilation of all time IMHO has got to be "Tommy Boy's Greatest Beats". Although it came out in 1985, the old school tracks by Afrika Bambaataa, Jonzun Crew, and Planet Patrol among others are the essential old school tunes that no fan of the genre could do without. I'm not certain if it is still in print.
