Subject: Miami Vice, Don Johnson..There is a plea for help in here!

Written By: Lindsay on 7/28/1998 at 3:36 p.m.

As I posted my messages on the board yesterday, I forgot to mention one big part of my 80's experience.
As I said, I am 19 years old, so I "grew up" in the 80's.
Aside from the first time I heard Prince, Culture Club, or INXS, I was hooked from the first episode to
a show I feel and have read set some of the style trends in Hollywood and around the US..
MIAMI VICE!!!! I was a fan from the first episode and I now own the copies of all episodes.
I have been a fan of Don Johnson's since then, have seen every movie of his-including what some call the 'bad' ones.
I have a a calendar from 1987 that I had my father order for me..Course, there is a funny side to it!
My mother, a remarkably shy woman, took me into a grocery store that was located in our small town.
It was not a big store, just one that people went to if they needed to pick up milk and bread-not shop for the enitre household!
She was carrying me and on the above bookshelf, from where she was looking at her People magazines, I see Don Johnson
in white pants, pink shirt, and gelled hair! I threw a very immature fit and made her buy this book, though she totally detested buying it.
Not until I was 12 years old and moving to a new home did I run upon that magazine, a Playgirl magazine to be exact..
To my sadness, he didn't pose...That cover hangs on my wall, the articles in my scrapbook totally devoted to him and his career up until now, as I am a faithful
Nash Bridges viewer...
I can now see why Mom was so embarassed.
Both soundtracks to Miami Vice: The Series take me back to the 80's when
Phil Collins played "In The Air Tonight" and starred as "Phil" in the episode, "Phil the Shill."
I can still see Don's character "Sonny" on his boat, the St. Vitus Dance talking with his own wife, Melanie Griffith while
Simply Red's "Holding Back the Years" played..
Being that big of a DJ fan, i do own both of his cassette releases, "Heartbeat" and "Let It Roll."
HERE IS MY PLEA FOR HELP!
I bought them when I didn't own a CD player...Now, they are discontinued and aren't available to be purchased anymore.
I have them made on blank tapes so I can keep the originals locked up and not take the chance of them breaking.
If anyone knows where I can find these Cd's, though I have tried countlessly on the net, please e-mail me
at the address provided and help me..
If you have them and are willing to buy or trade, also get in contact with me.
Thanks!!!

Lindsay - I seem to recall reading that "Heartbeat" was re-released earlier this year. I got this info from ICE magazine (www.icemagazine.com). BTW, did you know that that song was in the movie/video "Manhunter"?
