OK CHUCK, I JUST FINISHED RUMMAGING THROUGH YOUR SITE. IT APPEARS THAT YOU ARE NEARLY THE SAME SICK BASTARD THAT I AM. CURRENTLY I AM COMPILING A MUSICAL ANNUAL OF THE COMPLETE TRACK LISTINGS FOR EIGHTIES TOP 100 MUSIC. STARTING WITH 1980 AND GOING THROUGH 1989. I ACTUALLY HAVE MOST OF THE SONGS. I MUST TAKE EXCEPTION ABOUT CERTAIN "RADIO HITS" BY DONNA SUMMER AND SMOKEY ROBINSON THAT YOU FEEL ARE FROM THE SEVENTIES. THEY WERE NOT. IN ADDITION TO SEVERAL MINOR HITS IN THE EARLY EIGHTIES ON DAVID GEFFEN'S NEW UPSTART LABEL, SHE EVENTUALLY STRUCK IT BIG AGAIN IN 1983 (SHE WORKS HARD FOR THE MONEY) AND IN 1989 (THIS TIME I KNOW IT'S FOR REAL). SO YOU SEE, SHE NEVER WENT AWAY. HELL, EVEN SMOKEY HAD ANOTHER HIT IN THE LATE 80'S CALLED "JUST TO SEE HER." ALSO KEEP IN MIND THAT "DISCO" DID NOT ACTUALLY DIE UNTIL 1983. THAT YEAR SAW "FLASHDANCE" AND "MANIAC" SHOOT TO NUMBER ONE ON THE CHARTS. THIS WAS THE LAST RELEASE (I AM AWARE OF) BY THE FAMOUS "DISCO ERA" RECORD LABEL "CASABLANCA," WHICH IS WORTHY OF A FEATURE FILM IN AND OF ITSELF. SO THE RELICS AND EXCESSES OF THE LATE SEVENTIES WERE STILL GOING STRONG IN THE EARLY EIGHTIES, WHICH IS PROBABLY WHY YOU HATE THOSE TIME LIFE COMPILATIONS SO MUCH. I PERSONALLY LIKE ALL TYPES OF MUSIC BUT HAVE ALWAYS BEEN A FAN OF THE CHARTS. EVEN IF I DON'T REALLY LIKE SOMETHING, (I.E. MILLI VANILLI) I OWN IT FOR COMPILATION AND NOSTALGIC PURPOSES. POSSIBLY MY BIGGEST PRIZE WAS FINDING A COPY OF THE SINGLE VERSION OF "STARS ON 45: MEDLEY W/VENUS INTRO..." ON CD. IT WAS IN THE CUT-OUT BIN AT CIRCUIT CITY. I HAVE SEARCHED HIGH AND LOW FOR THIS VERSION WITH NO LUCK. YOU DEFINITELY WILL NOT FIND IT ANYWHERE.I HATED IT WHEN I WAS A SOPHMORE PRICK IN HIGH SCHOOL, AND I HATE IT NOW. BUT I GUESS I APPRECIATE MUSIC AND THE CHARTS THEY ARE LISTED ON. I ALSO LIKE WHAT YOU'VE DONE WITH YOUR PAGE. WELL, I GUESS I AM RAMBLING NOW. BEST OF LUCK TO YOU.
