Subject: Hi again!

Written By: Diane on 2/2/1999 at 12:15 p.m.

Hi folks, I don't know how many of you were around this board when I was posting here occasionally but I've checked out the new site/board/etc., and ChuckyG, you simply amaze me. I've never seen so much coverage of the '80s as this one site. This really is the one-stop stopping place for anything '80s.

I come bearing news...John Taylor, former bassist for Duran Duran (betcha ya saw that coming *g*), has a new movie coming out called "Sugar Town"! It premiered at the Sundance Film Festival that just finished up, and it was picked up by October Films. The movie, which is directed by Alison Anders, is a satirical look at L.A. and the music scene therein, and John Taylor stars with Martin Kemp (Spandau Ballet) as members of a washed-up glam rock group. So watch out for this movie!

One question (don't wanna go without leaving a question): I just recently found out that this one song I remember clearly as being a song I loved is called "Radioactive" and it's by this group called The Firm. I was wondering if there were any compiliations that had this one song in their track listings, or if the album this song came out on is still available. I'd really love to get this song.

Thanks folks! ChuckyG, you rule!

Diane

I am pretty sure that the album it came out on is still in print. I saw one titled "Mean Business" the other day but I am not sure if that was their first album (where the song is from) or second album. It would definitely be available in a used CD/cassette store though.

I haven't seen it on any compilations, though I have seen the original album around on CD a few times.. there was something about that band, like they were all former memebers of more popular bands or something... or maybe I'm just confusing them with GTR (which I know for fact was a composite band)

and welcome back Diana, don't stay away so long next time...

The Firm was Jimmy Page from Led Zeppelin and Paul Rogers from Bad Company, along with drummer Chris Slade, who later joined AC/DC for a short time. Can't remember the bass player's name. They did two albums, "The Firm" and "Mean Business", both of which seemed to get nothing but bad reviews.
