Subject: Re: Call em thicko but whats a hair/image band?
A hairband is a hard rock or metal band that obiviously have big hair. Like Motley Crue, Poison, Guns N' Roses, and Def Leppard.
Also known as "glam rock" & "pop metal".
Regular metal bands are AC/DC, Ozzy Osbourne, and Judas Priest.
Though I have no idea what's an "image band".

In what context did you hear the term "image band." I can probably figure it out from there.
Hair bands are now known as the type of Metal bands Woops mentioned. However, I remember bands such as A Flock of Seagulls being referred to as "haircut bands" in the '80s because they were distinguishable by exotic hair-dos. Haircut band was a term of contempt used by people who didn't appreciate the music. I remember people calling Depeche Mode a "haircut band," or a "bubblegum band." Yes, they had weird hair cuts in the '80s, and their music was loved by teenage girls, but their had a depth and creativity their detractors were simply unwilling to hear.

It would help if you mentioned where you heard the term "Image Band"
Two things come to mind as possible descriptions.
one could be bands that have a specific stage presence such as KISS, King Diamond, Alice Cooper.
or it could be bands as mentioned above which stood out from the norm with their look and music. more commonly called "Alternative"
well these are the only 2 things I could think of without actually knowing where you heard the refrence.
