Subject: 80's movie help

I remember seeing this movie on showtime. It involved a sherriff (i think) and a small rural town. The town is visited by an alien that hunts humans. (not predator). The alien has these discs he throws to kill the human prey. The disc hit the victim then tenticles come out and inject themselves into the victim. I'm not sure it is a sherriff or cop that is the hero but I think so. Anyway the alien stores the body(s) in the woods in a wooden building kinda like a meat locker. Please help it's driving me crazy not knowing the name of theis flick!!!!

Do you know any of the actors? or possibly what other movies the actors might have been in?
