Subject: Anyone like Cyndi Lauper?
I just saw on a cyndi website that they are releasing a live DVD of her in concert in May. I can't wait to get that!
She's coming to concert her in Houston this month and I can't find another person who freaking likes her...man this sucks..I may just force my husband to go with me 8)
Subject: Re: Anyone like Cyndi Lauper?
I would love to go to one of her concerts. One of my friends did and he said it was great.
Subject: Re: Anyone like Cyndi Lauper?
I like her music. She's cool. 8)
Subject: Re: Anyone like Cyndi Lauper?
I think Cyndi's great. I've read some recent interviews with her, she's a neat lady. Unfortunately, I'm nowhere near Houston!

I like her music:
Girls Just Wanna Have Fun
She Bop
and so much of the others as well. ;D

Have you ever watched Press Your Luck episodes circa 1985? They had a Cyndi Lauper whammy along with some reworked lyrics to "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" (I want money, I want money, cash).
Anyway I thought she was sort of cool. My favorite songs are She-Bop and Money Changes Everything. I'm surprised she didn't become as big a star as Madonna.
Subject: Re: Anyone like Cyndi Lauper?
My favorite songs are She-Bop, Good Enough (Goonies Theme) and Heading West.
Subject: Re: Anyone like Cyndi Lauper?
I think my favorites are Money Changes everything, She bop, and I drove all night. Girls just wanna have fun is great too.
I recently bought a Live in Paris Dvd off a seller on Ebay...it's a really cool concert and she is so funny. She makes jokes about She bop" and they keep trying to talk to her in French (I guess) and she's like "I don't know, I don't know what your saying"...it's so funny!

I loved the eps of Mad About You when she would be on there. Pretty good acting. Better than Vibes.

My sister-in-law told me that she saw Cyndi in concert (I think she was opening for Tina Turner or someone). She said that Cyndi put on a great show. My favs of hers are, She-Bop, Girls Just Wanna Have Fun, and Time after Time. I wouldn't mind going with you JennParkandKyan but I'm not planning on being in Houston anytime soon.

Cyndi is awesome! Not only is her music great, but she's very entertaining to watch! She's one of the best performers out there! :D
Subject: Re: Anyone like Cyndi Lauper?
Oops, I forgot to mention my favorite songs of hers! "Girls Just Want To Have Fun", "She Bop", "Time After Time", "All Through the Night".
Subject: Re: Anyone like Cyndi Lauper?
Cyndi's great.
'Good enough' is obviously a class soundtrack and I love other stuff like 'Change of Heart' as well.
Subject: Re: Anyone like Cyndi Lauper?
I like a couple of songs mentioned like "Time After Time", "She Bop", "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" and "All Through The Night".
And she also sang the theme song for "Pee Wee's Playhouse".
BTW, she'll also appear on "Divas 2004" on April 18 with Joss Stone, Aretha Franklin, Deborah Harry, and Jessica Simpson. 8)

Yeah, she rocks!! 8)
The only reason she didn't achieve the Madonna-like status was because she was younger and was in highschool at the peak of her 80's career. I still remember her graduation made headlines. In addition, she didn't overexpose herself doing everything and anything to get to the top. She had a different set of priorities. This shouldn't be taken as a negative reflection on Madonna. In the 80's, Madonna's music rocked too and as entertainers they simply were two different personalities. :)

Yeah I saw that she would be on Divas 2004! I am definetly going to watch that..I admit it..I like Jessica Simpson too. ::)

I don't understand why everyone compares her to Madonna. Yes, they are both female singers and they were popular about the same time but that as far as the comparision lies. They were different-different styles, and like you said, different personalities. I don't think Cyndi is "Madonna-lite" as some people try to make her out to be.

My sisters(teens in the 80s) loved Cyndi Lauper, but I couldn't stand her...yuck. They had posters, and such....they drove me crrrrrrazy with all that stuff. :o :o :o :o
Subject: Re: Anyone like Cyndi Lauper?
People compare Cyndi with Madonna because their first singles burst onto the radio at the same time.
Cyndi ruined her career when she cancelled her previously booked USA tour for a bigger payout in Japan, abandoning her fans at the height of her popularity. It's that simple.

I LOVE Cyndi!!

;D ;D ;D ;D
Cyndi Lauper is, like, truly one of my favorite singers of all time. I have loved her since she first came out. She is truly an icon. Sadly, Madonna got more publicity than she did, but I can't totally diss Madonna, since I did eventually become a fan of hers. But Cyndi is still my favorite. I actually dressed like her for Halloween one year, with my orange punk wig and my make-up and my crazy costume. She is my favorite act to come out of the '80s, aside from Duran Duran of course. I also feel that she has alot more to offer than stupid Britney Spears! Even Christina Aguilera has some substance, which is why I grew to like her a bit. She does change her image alot, more so than Britney, and she is a little like Miss Lauper in terms of not caring about what other people think about her, and being a strong role-model for other women.

I saw Cyndi Open for Cher twice and she was great! Her energy alone is enough to keep you watching her. Very talented. :)
Subject: Re: Anyone like Cyndi Lauper?
And she was part of the Rock and Wrestling Connection. ;D

Was she really in high school then? I thought she was older. The reason being that she was a regular on the Philly club scene back in the early '80s (that's where she hooked up with Robert Hazard who wrote Girls Just Wanna Have Fun, and the Hooters members Rob Hyman and Eric Bazillion who wrote Time after Time). I thought she was in her late '20's or so when she came on the scene.
