Subject: you cant do that on television
does anyone remember that show. that was quite an entertaining show. i hears alanis morissette got her start on that show...anyone know?
Subject: Re: you cant do that on television
It was a funny show. Alanis did got her first start on "You Can't Do That On Television" in the mid 1980's.
I remember the cast being slimed when they say something like "I Don't Know" (or something else) & Barth Burgers.
Subject: Re: you cant do that on television
i cant remeber exact details but i remeber they would always have someone tied up with a firing squad, but something would always interfear...

Actually its the sliming from that show that Nickalodian adopted as the channels over all theme. which is why most of the Nick logos resemble slime.
even in amusmant parks getting slimed is the number one choice.
I loved "You cant do that on television" and my parents hated it, they said it was a show to teach kids how to misbehaive. LOL Im so glad im not as much a prude with my kids. hehe.

And the green slime (or Gack) became a Nickelodeon staple. On many game shows like "Double Dare".
Recently Nickelodeon has "On Air Dare", which is part of the current cast of "All That", a mid '90's counterpart of "You Can't Do That On Television", which is more like a kiddie version of "Fear Factor". :P
Good thing I was a kid during the late '80's/early '90's.
I feel sorry to today's children who have to put up with countless airings of Nicktoons and not watching games shows, older cartoons, kiddie sitcoms/programmings, etc on the channel. :P
Most of the shows on The Disney Channel ("Even Stevens", "That's So Raven") would've fit right on Nickelodeon instead of becoming another Cartoon Network, which came out in the mid '90's.

Too bad they still don't show YCDTOT still so the kids nowadays can know where it actually came from.
I loved that show too.

I wasn't allowed to watch You Can't Do That On Television when I was a child. >:(

My parents thought the subject material was not appropriate for a kid. I do remember them allowing me to watch one episode. They sat and watched it with me. The kids on the show were asking why they were not allowed to have sex. Needless to say, that was the end of my watching. I did catch a few episodes at my friend's house however.
Subject: Re: you cant do that on television
I always like Christine. I don't know why they called her "Moose"
"D'I heard that"
Cat
Subject: Re: you cant do that on television
I doubt Nickelodeon would show "You Can't Do That On Television" because they're now "politically correct". :P
I've read that "politically correctness" (& other dumb reason like the fact "Invader Zim"'s creator did 'disturbing' comics prior to the show) was the reason why they took control of "Ren & Stimpy" in 1993 and canned "Invader Zim" after one or two seasons a few years ago. :-/ Plus, the same for the demise of "Rocko's Modern Life" in the mid '90's. >:(
BTW, I was not (and never) a fan of "Invader Zim".

I always thought it was funny when Barth (that name cracks me up) used to overhear the kids making snide remarks about the food and he'd pop his head up and say "Duuuuuuuuuuuuhh...I HEARD THAT!!!"
Subject: Re: you cant do that on television
