I am putting on a lipsync competition and some of the girls in my group are being bell biv devoe. i was wondering wehat kind of clothes they should wear???? ;D ??? ;D ???

Hoop earrings, black hats (like what Debbie Gibson wore), sneakers, tight jeans, bicycle shorts/lycra, jean jackets, etc.
Look at pictures/music videos of Paula Abdul, Janet Jackson or watch reruns of "Full House", "The Cosby Show" for some ideas for fashion from the late '80's (1988/1989) and early '90's.

Excuse me, but wasn't Bell Biv Devoe an early 90s act? I know that all three members were in New Edition (obviously 80s), but they recorded as "Bell Biv Devoe" in the early 90s; I even remember them.

I was thinking the same thing. Their music and style was beyond the 80's.

They were part of the "new jack swing" genre like fellow New Edition member Bobby Brown and Keith Sweat which was popular in the late '80's to early '90's, around 1991.

I'd never heard of "new jack swing" until now. Where did that label come from?
My point in my last post was that their music and style was not 80's/no longer reflected the 80's. Their stuff, IMO, is beyond the 80's, meaning strictly 90's. My opinion, of course. ;)

I've heard it many times on my local "old school R&B" station & some of my friends. I don't really have a clue.
But some late '80's/early '90's R&B artists, like Tony, Tone', Toni, Johnny Gill, Keith Sweat sounds different compared to the artists from the mid/late '90's like Aaliyah, Usher, and Brian McNight. Might be part of the whole "labling" thing from the '90's.

More of an early 90s thing. Color Me Badd, BBD, Bobby Brown, EnVogue, MC Hammer, Babyface, etc.
It was a post 80s hip hop thing. Definitely had it's own sound and feel. I hadn't heard the term "new jack swing" for years though...
