Thanks for the tip, Smithsgirl, I'll look out for that issue.  I read the excerpts from it on the link, and I completely agree with Mozz on getting older and David Bowie!
:D

* On David Bowie: "(He is) not the person he was. He is no longer David Bowie at all. Now he gives people what he thinks will make them happy, and they're yawning their heads off. And by doing that, he is not relevant. He was only relevant by accident." The Moz.

The case could be made for Morrissey as well. Hmmm?? And only relevant by accident?? Phffttt.....I love Morrissey but the phrase 'foot in mouth' comes immediately to mind.

I headed straight to the store when I heard about the feature.
I bought it! I read it! I loved it!

But of course I would say that :D

It's a great interview. Sucked me right in.
There are some great pictures. I was taken a back at first at his seemingly more 'mature' look. He has grown up quite gracefully.

I'm happy!!! ;D

You may have a point.  Some of his work, such as "Vauxhall and I" and "Maladjusted" has been dull, dull, dull (forgive me, Smithsgirl!).  We'll have to see what he does on the forthcoming album "You Are the Quarry."  If he doesn't inject new themes and new angles into his songs, he risks self-parody.  Some would see he arrived at self-parody a decade ago.  I wouldn't go that far, although some of his angst has been tongue in cheek.  Morrissey's a brilliant man and I know he has the potential to further develop his creative range.  However, he may not want to take the risk.

David Bowie took a lot of risks.  By the late '70s he had ditched the glam Ziggy Stardust persona for the loftier world of his "Berlin period."  Though "Low," "Lodger," and "Heroes" are now acclaimed classics, the didn't go over big with rock audiences. His superstar began to wane.  I remember the press noting with surprise the tremendous success of the "Let's Dance" album.  It generated three top 10 hits, including the number 1 smash title track.

Critics lambasted his 1995 theme he album he made with Brian Eno, "Outside."  I loved that album.  The song "We Prick You" is an overlooked gem, every bit as great as any Bowie classic from the '70s.  Bowie doesn't have to worry about sales, but his foray into '90s electronica was a risk, and not well-received.

I haven't listened to his new album "Reality."  I have a gnawing feeling I'd be very disappointed.

I loved Vauxhall And I and I think that was the last great album Morrissey did. I had the honour of seeing him live in 2000 in Hamilton, Ontario and he fantastic! Completely on form. He is long overdue for a great comeback, and I am eagerly awaiting the release of You Are The Quarry. Musically, I like Moz's work with The Smiths a lot better than his solo career, though he did some great work early on in it. However, I admire him more for his opinions, his wit, his intelligence, and his personality. He's a brilliant artist who is still as relevant as ever!

By the way, SmithsGirl...I LOVE your avatar!! :D Where'd you find it??
