SPALDING GRAY
1941-2004
Writer, monologist, actor Spalding Gray is confirmed dead.  Gray disapeared 1/10/04 and was found 3/9/04 floating in New York City's East River.  His death is believed to be a suicide.
Gray got famous in the '80s with his roles in The Killing Fields, the Talking Heads movie True Stories, and Beaches.  He had small roles in dozens of films from the '70s through the 2000s.
His 1987 monologue, Swimming to Cambodia, about his experiences in Thailand while acting in "The Killing Fields" made him a household name...at least in hip households!  He also did a filmed monologue in 1996 called Gray's Anatomy, and was featured in numerous other "monologues" and documentary projects.
One of his books, Sex and Death to the Age 14, is a favorite of mine.
Gray sustained severe injuries in a 2001 auto accident, and was working on a monologue based on his recovery.  He was reported to be suffering from depression at the time he disappeared. Since his remains were just identified, there is not yet a definite conclusion on the cause of his death.
Gray was a native of Providence, RI, and a graduate of Emerson College.  He was 62 years old.

ohhh I wondered when he would finally be found.

Sad indeed for anyone to feel that low that there is only one solution in their minds.
