Subject: 80's gum
i remember I loved this gum as a kid, in the late 80's, but don't remember what it was called. It was square, and when you bit into it, it had some type of juice, or something in it.
Does anyone remember this gum, and what it was called?
Thanks.

Freshen up looks like the one. Thanks!
Subject: Re: 80's gum
I remember Freshen Up...once the center part was gone rest of the gum didn't have that much flavor. And of course whenever I would chew it I would get all the filling out, chew for a little bit and get rid of the gum. :D Hence, needing another piece. ;D
Subject: Re: 80's gum
Two other '80s gums:
Sticklets, which was similar to Wrigley's.
Replay, which was block-shaped like Bubble Yum, but had similar flavors to Wrigley's.
Among the absurd ad campaigns I've scene was for a brand of gum I can't remember. It was in the New Yorker circa 1980. The product was photographed on an engraved silver tray on a royal blue silk sash. The pitch: "At last, a chewing gum for the rich." No joke, it really said that!
:D

is Hubba Bubba Gum still around?
I remember it came out in the 80's, and the big selling point was that you could blow bubbles and if they popped on your face it wouldn't stick to you! "The Gum that Won't Stick"!

The ad campaign was a Western movie motif:
"The Gum Fighter." In the high noon showdown, the evil gum slinger's bubble gum sticks all over his face, and The Gum Fighter lives to fight another day with his Hubba Bubba bubblegum.
Hubba Bubba was not bad, but the texture was a little too slick. Bubblelicious was the stuff, sticky, but primo! Bubbleyum was a close second.
:)

Does anyone remember Gatorade gum? I loved it! I don't think they make it anymore, however. I also remember a gum put out by either Hubba Bubba or Bubble Yum. It resembled one of those white w/red striped peppermints except it was peppermint flavored gum. I also remember another gum called Razzles. It came in a pouch. They looked like candy except you chewed it and it turned into gum.

Gatorade gum was great! It was so tart at first that it made you clench your teeth and squint! :-/
The striped gum sounds familiar, but I can't quite place it.
We mentioned Razzles on another thread. Razzles were aweseome! They had a crumbling confectionary sweetness at first, and then congealed into a smooth gummy mass. The flavors were strong, but they didn't last.
The pouch gum I was thinking of was "Big League Chew." Any Big League Chew fans out there?

Gatorade gum was called "Gatorgum." Does anyone remember Double Bubble?

Double Bubble was found in the penny/nickel bins with Bazooka, Pud, and Fortune gum, was it not?

Big League gum. Oh man, I had this friend that would chew that all the time. He would see how much gum he could chew at one time. He would do the same with the hubba bubba gum. He would cram like 4 or 5 packs of gum in his mouth at one time. Ohhhh, it was hilarious.

Black Bart gum.......
Remember that stuff? You would chew it until you ended up with lockjaw and it made the inside of your mouth black. It was actually quite gross.
Does anyone know of/remember Thrills gum? It seems they're only availible in those quarter or dime dispensing machines. It tastes like soap, but I'm strangely drawn to it every time I pass one of those machines.
Also, what about Jawbreakers? After having them in your mouth for a while, they ended up pointy and rough and cut the roof and insides of your mouth to sh*t. Yet, day after day I would buy a couple and inflict severe pain unto myself.

I don't remember Thrills, but I get the occasional craving for one of the big gumball machine gumballs. No other gum has that sudden sickly sweet texture.
I used to buy Gobstoppers all the time, they were a type of jawbreakers. You had to wrestle with them a bit to get them down to a manageable size, but they were a great bargain if you only had thirty cents to your name.
:D
Atomic Fireballs would make your eyes water for a few minutes, but I really liked their texture after the hot stuff dissolved!
