Subject: Speaking of video games...
What were your favorites (arcade or home system)? Q-Bert, Joust, and Dragonheart (with dirk the klutzy knight and Daphne the princess?) were three of mine. I could probably pay off all of my student loans with the money I spent at the arcade!!!

My favorite acrcade game were...
Tempest
Joust
Dig-Dug
Star Trek
Robotron 2084
Q-Bert I had this game so set up could play for hours on one quarter!
Does anyone remember the loud "BANG/SNAP" sound when Q-Bert or the snake took a drop off the side? What the hell was that sound? The first time I played it, it scared the crap outta me! It wasn't a "computer" sound, it was mechanical.
My fav console was Colecovision/fav game on it was Time Pilot and Dam Busters...
Subject: THWACK!
Oh, I remember that sound! my mom got me the mini game for Christmas, and the first time I played it, she thought I had fallen and cracked my head open! Those games were so neat-like little mini arcade games, except you couldn't crank up the volume like the REAL arcade games. By the way gumbypiz, I'm e-mailing your quote to everyone I know. We get a kick out of that kind of thing here in emerald-green Oregon!

That sound was a knocker. It is the same device used in a pinball machine to make that sound when you win a free game. Very cool feature.
Not to be a know-it-all jerk, but the game at the top of the thread is Dragon's Lair. Just thought I would mention it so there is no confusion if you are looking for a home version of the game for PC or a console system. They are available
My favorites as a child were:
Centipede
Spy Hunter
Moon Patrol
Today my favorites are:
Joust
Bubbles
Star Wars
Food Fight
Shameless plug for my website seems appropriate for this thread. I have a classic arcade game collection that can be seen at http://www.krakboi.com/arcades/arcadegames.htm
You all should check to see if you get the G4 channel. It is a videogame channel that shows the old video game gameshow Starcade (www.starcade.com). It airs twice daily.
Subject: Oh Yeah, Dragon's LAIR!
I was hoping someone would correct me if I had it wrong. I did get the characters' names' right though, didn't I?
