This type of threads have been done before. I checked the archives

And everybody's intitled to their own opinions.
Like some of the bands, movies, shows you listed.

Everybody has to have some dislikes, regardless if it's "good" to others (hairbands, teen idols, overhyped celebs) or just plain bad ("Ishtar", "Gigli", Don Johnson's singing). :)
Though "Fresh Prince of Bel Air" was from the 1990's.

I disagree with some of this. Starship, (Nothing's gonna stop us now), The Pointer Sisters (Jump especially) and Rick Astley (Never gonna give you up) had some great hits. Without these type of bands the 80s would have altered for the worst IMO.

Even Tiffany had a nice cover with 'I think we're alone now'. I don't know what the video was all about though.

What band/artist would you consider as the worst?

Everybody's free to list some bands that aren't their favorites.

Woops,

I cannot argue with your list other than moving the Pointy Sisters up the list. ;D I know that "Jump" was a most wretched and annoying song.

I'll admit that I liked Debbie Gibson.
But in retrospect, her music is all cotton candy and makes Gidget look like Christina Aguilera.  :P
Though I still listen to a few of her songs, but only once or twice a month in a secluded area/or with headphones.

Plus I only like "Seventeen" from Winger.  :-X  Also would listen to it with headphones or when nobody's around.

I actually think this is a cool thread.  It might spark a little controversy, but that's healthy right?  Well, here are the 80s artists that most annoyed me. In no particular order...

1.  Elton John (his 70s stuff was much better)
2.  Milli Vanilli
3.  Roxette
4.  Laura Branigan
5.  Bette Midler
6.  Patti Labelle
7.  Kenny Rogers
8.  Neil Diamond
9.  The Bangles
10. Whitney Houston

I also agree. Except for The Bangles. And Elton John's earlier songs from the '70's are better.

I don't think there are many bands I 'hate' but these groups IMO did stuff I wasn't into . . .

B.V.S.M.P ('I need you' was horrendous)
Adeva
Korgis
Neneh Cherry (apart from 'Buffalo Stance')
Simply Red (apart from 'Money's too tight to mention')
Monie Love
Soul II Soul

I can't think of any artists from the 80's that I didn't like, but I can tell you honestly that I am not a big fan of some of the mellow groups from the 70's.  The Carpenter were a good group but other groups like Bread and Ambrosia are just WAY TOO mushy for my taste ( I know some people think their music is sweet and romantic though); to me Latin music is much more romantic.

Me wants to cry!!    :'(    ;)

I loved the Pointer Sisters - but "Jump" is my LEAST favorite; I liked the earlier hits.  Hell, "Jump" by Van Halen about the same time (is that legal?) is my LEAST favorite of *their* hits!  Must be something about that word.

Most of the others listed I liked OK, but I wouldn't put them on a "don't like" list - except maybe the fakirs Milli Vanilli.   ;)

I agree, Elton John was better as the '70s icon, but he was still pretty good.

Trying to think of any I really don't like.  Not crazy about any solo-white-guy stuff, outside John Cougar and Bruce Springsteen.  Bryan Adams is way overrated in my ears; yikes that strep throat he must have!

About Milli Vanilli. I still like Milli Vanilli even though they didn't sing the songs because I like those songs. For me, they were catchy (if a little dated) and 'Don't forget my number' was great.

The lead singer of Black Box was a female model who lip-synched to a load of hits during the late 80s/ very early 90s around the same period of time.

Going back even further, the guy that managed Milli Vanilli (Fabian something?) managed Boney M in the 70s and put his own voice to the male 'singer' of the group who never sung a note!

The difference being is that these bands didn't get caught out.  ;)

Its funny, I was in the car with some friends the other day andit was like an old school lunch hur and Milli Vanilli's Girl You Know Its True came on the radio. It was kinda surreal the way we all kinda looked at each other and then burst out laughing, then we sang along with it :-[.  I guess it was just a spur of the moment thing, ya know?

I don't have too many artists that I don't like for whatever reasons. I'm usually apt to go along with the general ideas of what is really bad because when it is awful, its awful.

I don't like:
Bow Wow Wow
and there are a lot of bands today I don't liketoo. There are more bands from the 80s that I'm sure I'd rather not listen too, but I can't think of em now.
