perfect day to start this one
I've watched almost all of these movies, but the first one.
can anyone tell me how the original jason died and why he started killing all those people.
why did he go out for revenge.

SPOILER WARNING
In the orginal F13, it was Jason's mom exacting revenge b/c her son drowned b/c of the neglectful, high, sex starved teen counselors. However at the end you see a really messed up Jason as a kid jump out of the river.
And b/c his mom was killed by the survivor, Jason starts exacting revenge himself.
(Freddy VS Jason shows a little more of the story of how it was at the camp for Jason)

Jason drowned in Crystal Lake late at night while all the counselors were partying. That's the story his mother tells as she is trying to kill the young virgin!

Sorry, that I can't be of help because I haven't seen the 1st movie since it originally came out. Wasn't really a fan. I did see Freddy vs. Jason and it was really bad. IMHO

I remember the first three films and, to be honest, they were awful. The second film was literally a rehash of the first one!
My favourite Friday the 13th film was 'Jason Lives' back in 1986. It had a great soundtrack (Alice Cooper's 'The Man Behind The Mask').

When Jason jumped up out of the water at the end, wasn't that just a dream that the girl had while in the hospital...or am I remembering wrong?

They made it seem like a dream, but also w/ the possibility that she survived that attack. I think that's where it picks up in the 2nd movie.

Maybe I'm weird, but I really liked Freddy vs. Jason. But, I'm more of a Freddy fan and was "rooting" for him throughout the movie.

The good thing with Freddy is his humor. Granted, it's a little warped, but you can always expect a good line from Freddy.

I agree...his humor is really twisted. (which is what I like about it ;) ) Also, he is smarter than JAson...he thinks things out.
