hey did everyone hear they are doing another dirty dancing.
PATRICK SWAYZE IS GOING TO STAR IN THIS ONE AS WELL. BUT GET THIS . IT IS SET 20 YEARS BEFORE JOHNEY MET BABY
DON'T KNOW HOW THEY WILL PULL THIS ONE OFF.

Unless he carries an H&K MP5, involves cluster bombs, international terrorists, and drug lords, and features a sleazy blonde... I won't be spending any money in the theatres to see it. :P
(however, I might reconsider on the sleazy blonde part. ;D)

I know that the are coming out with "Dirty Dancing Havana Nights" at the end of this month in theatres. I had no idea that patrick swayze was going to be in it. Maybe they are making two?
The couple in it are totally different people...in CUBA!!

It's supposed to be in Cuba in 1957. Patrick Swayze plays a dance instructor but it's before the original Dirty Dancing.
So it's really going to be a totally different movie and NOT a sequel. :-/

I hope there is no a sequel. This is a movie I want to watch when with that "special some one" when I finally meet her. I have seen Dirty Dancing about 3 times please don't ruin the prestine of the first one. I like that song "I've Had The Time of Life" that they played in the movie. I remember hearing that song when I was a kid. Dirty Dancing is one of those movies its cheesy but its romantic though. Its the perfect movie for a couple to watch. When I seen this thread I went kinda nuts.

I think recently I saw him in a hip hop video. Though last night I watched him in To Wong Foo. :D
Unfortunately, the movie has been made and will be released sometime soon. But the original will always hold a special place for me, no matter how bad this one may be.

I can't wait for the day when Hollywood begins to make new, fresh and original movies more frequently instead of rehashing old ideas, "prequeling" and "sequeling" everything.

A 'Prequel' is a second film that takes you back before the first film and a 'Sequel' is a second film that continues from the first film.

Actually I think I read somewhere that the Dirty Dancing followup movie is going to be a sequel, based on the realities of age.
The sequel takes place many, many years after that magic summer. The summer resort has closed down, and it has been converted into a nursing home for Johnny and Baby. For a few weeks, Johnny does not recognize Baby because of the years that have passed (and the nose job that Jennifer Grey got). But once they are reunited the sparks fly once more...
In the climax finale dance scene, Johnny lifts Baby's walker over his head, while he pirhouettes about the stage using his Jazzy Power Scooter. Inspired by this, the rest of the residents mount their power scooters and there is this FANTASTIC line-dance sequence where they dance their scooters in formation.

I remember when they tried to make a tv version of "Dirty Dancing" in the late 80's. Patrick Cassidy (younger brother of David and Shaun) took over the Patrick Swayze role. Even though the first episode garnered big ratings, like a lot of other tv shows inspired by hit films, it just didn't create the same spark as the original film and was cancelled after less than one season.
