Okay, it's been a really long time since I've seen it, and all I remember really is that there were some people who were able to go to a specific "dream realm" if you will.  One of the main points of the movie was that if you die in dreams, you dies in real life. There was one bad guy who was (perhaps a doctor) incredibly adept at entering this dream world and manipulating it to his will. He would go into other people's dream and kill them. At the end he turned into a big snake thing in the dream realm upon a Dali/hell beckdrop, but was impaled, and thus died a bloody death in the real world.

Anyone remember this movie?

I do remember this movie...and after doing some researching on imdb I couldn't find anything...but I will continue to think on it.
I believe the bad guy was scientist.

Sounds like a Nightmare On Elm Street type movie.

Plot Summary for
Dreamscape (1984)    
 
A government funded project looks into using psychics to enter people's dreams, with some mechanical help. When a subject dies in his sleep from a heart attack Alex Gardner becomes suspicious that another of the psychics is killing people in the dreams somehow and that is causing them to die in real life. He must find a way to stop the abuse of the power to enter dreams.
