Subject: Do you remember "Send A Message"INXS??
Many people I have talked to don't remember
"Send a Message" and don't believe me when I tell them it was the first song I remember hearing by INXS. I have it on a tape recorded from radio and it must have been 1986...or therebouts.
Is this a case of cool radio in California? OR am I right but the band didn't take hold of big-time fame til later?
Comments??

"Send A Message" is one of my favorite INXS songs. It is off my favorite INXS album, "The Swing." I wore out 2 tapes of that thing! Thankfully I have it on CD now and don't have to worry about it aging. I think it was a case of just plain cool radio. I heard it here in Ohio!
I Send A Message
In the silence I think of you
I send a message and hope it gets through
Think of the distance
Think of the miles
All of the valleys could take a while
I miss the people
I miss the fun
You're my aberration
She's my only one
And I imagine you're standing here
It's subliminal so inspirational
Man of the world for all the good reasons
Take away the pain and drink the wine

Thanks for the lyrics! I used to send taped letters to friends and I would preface my voice with this tune.
And now can you tell me which tune was the one with the kitties on the dining-table and the turkey smashed by someone crawling across the table on his knees??
it's all very funny because they start out so very proper and well dressed for a real dinner party.

That would be "The One Thing" from the Shabooh Shoobah album. Another classic!
The One Thing
Well you know just what you do to me
The way you move soft and slippery
Cut the night just like a razor
Rarely talk and that's the danger
It's the one thing
You are my thing
You know your voice is a love song
It's a catcall from the past
There's no ice in your lover's walk
You don't look twice 'cause you move so fast
You've got a dozen men behind you
You've got dead flowers on the floor
You're too pretty in the daylight
It keeps them coming back for more

I actually heard it on the radio yesterday. :D

"I Send a Message" came out in 1984, but INXS didn't really become "big" in America until "What You Need" went to No. 5 in 1985. Even so, their first US No. 1 was "What You Need" in 1988 from the album "Kick" which went to No. 3. That was the point when they really went ballistic. :)

I dug INXS since hearing The One Thing on KJETam in Seattle in 1983 and other songs from Shaboo Shabah. Also Listen Like Thieves was haunting and deep couple years later. Think the main dude (was he Andy Farris?) is dead, and imo never the same group. He was akin to Jim Morrison in his poetic ambience.

Micheal Hutchence was the singer who died.

Do you mean, "Need You Tonight?" That was from Kick. "What You Need" is from Listen Like Thieves, one of my favourite INXS albums other than The Swing. :D
Absolutely Vile

That song ROCKS!!!! I remember that song and 'The One Thing' were the one's that got me hooked on INXS!!
When they were just beginning, in the 80s...1984-85, I think, I saw INXS open for the Go-Gos in concert...back when the Go-Gos were big!!!!
I also saw them in concert for the 'Listen Like Theves' tour! They were a fantastic band!! Shabooh Shobaah and The Swing are my favorite albums of theirs....before they got a little 'harder' in their style. Still have all their albums but those 2 are my favs!!!
