Subject: Who remembers when the Pope was shot?

Written By: Stevie B on 02/02/04 at 07:35 p.m.

I almost forgot about this event, and I am Catholic. :-[ Even after it came back to me,I had to do some online research,to find out the month and year it happened.I don't have much of a memory of the day it happened, other than hearing about it from some classmate of mine, and talking about with my mom, later on that evening. Boy,there were so many attempts to kill our cultural icons in the 80's. First John Lennon was killed in 1980,then they tried to shoot the Pope, and Ronald Reagan, both in 1981. :( Who remembers what they were doing on the day the Pope was shot? Here is a link that some may find interesting. http://www.culturalcatholic.com/PopeJohnPaulII.htm

I mostly remember the pictures in Newsweek of the attempted assassination.  After that they placed that bullet proof bubble on the Popemobile.  Then the Pope forgave his assailant. The guy was Turkish, IIRC.
