Subject: Stumped on a Video name and artist....

Written By: Mike65557 on 02/01/04 at 11:46 p.m.

Hi,

I am stumped.  there was a great video for a one-hit-wonder in the later 80's or early 90's that I cannot remember the name or melody for the song, and worse yet i cannot remember the artist!  All I remember is that it took place in a hotel or motel, for a single white artist, with two black backup singers and they sounded great.  The song was a love song with a manly take on it....something about not being able to to make it??!?!?  I dunno, I cannot seem to get it, if you have any ideas, please let me know!

What do you mean "make it"?
Make the relationship work? Connect with the woman in question?   And if it left such an impression on you, how is it you can't recall something more about this tune?
I seem to recall stupid stuff about every song i like.

Don't suppose It could be Sly Fox: Let's go all the way? That was actually one tan guy, and one white guy, not 2 back up guys as far as I know.  I wish you had more to go on.
Do you remember seeing an ad maybe for this band or this song in an 80s music magazine? Maybe a write up of the lyrics? I have dozens of "Star Hits" in a box somewhere, but with little to go on it's fairly needle in haystack hopeless...
Did MTV play the video, or was it later after the advent of VH1?  Do you remember who was the DJ?  what maybe were the types of songs it reminded you of?  If it was early 90s there may still be a chance to find a playlist of song videos on the internet if you surf with intensity--and then you can eliminate your choices that way. Were they young guys? Moderate 20s?

Sometimes, you get only part of song stuck in your head and you only have a little to go on.  :)
However, the more details about a song or video the better.

Ah yes, and a killer '80s tune that was. :-) Your "mystery song" is "Crazy (Keep on Falling)" by The John Hall Band, a moderate hit here in the U.S. in the Winter of '82. It was off the group's 1981 album, All of the Above. Unfortunately, the album is long out-of-print, and has never been re-issued on CD here in the U.S. I have the cassette myself...

Yeah, the video was nothing fancy - never saw it back in the day, but have caught it 2 or 3 times now on VH-1 Classic in the past year. Even got it on tape when it aired one of those times... :-)
